IRVING, Texas – On Sunday, November 11, the University of Dallas honored four former student-athletes by inducting them into the Athletics Hall of Fame. This quartet increases the total number of inductees to 71, and also marked 20 years since the inaugural class of 1998. This is the 22nd ceremony that has been held, with Sunday’s event happening at the Rathskeller on the Dallas campus.

Cody Worden, Jared Lee, and Ryan Meske represented the men’s soccer program, which now has 13 members in the Hall of Fame and at least one in the past three straight years. Brian Spinner raised UD’s baseball program total to 24, which he referenced fits him due to idealizing Ken Griffey Jr. with that favorite jersey number.

Athletics Director Dick Strockbine gave opening remarks, which included recognizing Student-Athlete Faculty Advisor Dr. Thomas Jodziewicz and Provost Jonathan J. Sanford in attendance. Strockbine also paused for a moment to honor those on Veterans Day before commencing the induction ceremony.

Friends, family, and former teammates of the inductees were able to attend and support the latest members of Hall of Fame. Current UD staff, along with several current student-athletes at Dallas were also present, as Strockbine noted the importance of recognizing the history of fellow Crusaders that played and went through the rigorous academics before them.

Lee, Meske, and Spinner went in order delivering speeches that reflected their career endeavors, as well as sharing their time prior to coming to UD, at UD, and beyond graduation. Current 16-year men’s soccer head coach David Hoffmann introduced Meske, and Spinner’s father also gave some opening remarks for his son. Worden, who was unable to attend this Sunday, would be spoken for on behalf by Strockbine.

Each of these gentlemen received a plaque, and will have another copy added to the wall inside the Maher Center. Details on this plaque about each of the players can be found in the announcement release of the Hall of Fame.
