Amber Conner to become head coach of UD Softball
Amber Conner has been named head coach of the University of Dallas softball team. The position was accepted by Mrs. Conner on Friday, Nov. 5.
A resident of Flower Mound, Texas, Mrs. Conner has an extensive softball background, which includes All-State pitching honors for Nimitz High School (Irving, Texas) in 1997 and 1998.
Her head coaching experience includes spending August 2005-May 2006 in that role with the Decatur High School softball team (Decatur, Texas), and most recently with the Shadows 18 U Fast Pitch Team of Flower Mound for the last five years. Of note, Mrs. Conner was an assistant coach for Shadows from September 2003-August 2005.
Furthermore, Mrs. Conner held assistant coaching duties at Cedar Hill H.S. (Cedar Hill, Texas) from March 2004-May 2004.
From May 2003-May 2005, Mrs. Conner served as an assistant coach at the University of North Texas (Denton), where she coached pitching and outfield. Also at the collegiate level, Mrs. Conner served as Graduate Assistant Coach at Oklahoma Christian University (Oklahoma City), from May 2002-April 2003, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology, after transferring from New Mexico State University and priorly, Texas State University.
Mrs. Conner was an accomplished pitcher during her tenure as an undergrad at all three universities. Her softball accomplishments at Oklahoma Christian include leading the team to its first ever national tournament, holding the school record for most consecutive scoreless innings, and receiving pitching accolades from the Southern Athletic Conference, Region IV, National Fast Pitch Coaches Association (All Region) and National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (All American).
Mrs. Conner is fulfilling a dream with the University of Dallas, as her objective was to become head softball coach at the collegiate level.
