Cross Country returns from Concordia University Invitational

On Saturday, Oct. 16, the University of Dallas cross country teams competed in the Concordia University Invitational, which was held in Cedar Park, Texas. 

The teams competed against the likes of the University of Texas, which won the men's and women's respective 5K races.  

The Crusaders' men's team, which placed seventh out of ten teams, was led by freshman Clement O'Reilly (Front Royal, VA/Warren County H.S.), whose time of 16:51:00 garnered 35th overall. 

Alex Bukaty (New Orleans, LA/Jesuit H.S.) wasn't far behind O'Reilly, as the UD sophomore finished the trek in 17:08:00, which claimed him 42nd place.

UD's women's team also finished seventh overall, but this time out of twelve schools. 

A trio of Crusaders completed the course in three second intervals. Catherine Sercer (Fort Scott, KS/Fort Scott H.S.), a sophomore, edged out her teammates, crossing the finish line at 20:39:00, for 36th place. Meanwhile, freshman Mary Jones (Oneida, WI/Notre Dame Academy) ran a time of 20:42:00, for 37th, and Laura Redlinger (San Diego, CA/Patrick Henry H.S.) posted 20:45:00, which merited 38th place.

The future looks bright for UD cross country, which will participate, next, in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) Meet in Hillsboro, Ill., on Saturday, Oct. 30.
