Kevin Blasczienski named Head Athletics Trainer
IRVING, Texas - The University of Dallas Athletics Department is pleased to announce the hiring of Kevin Blasczienski (MS, ATC), who will assume the position of Head Athletics Trainer entering the 2011-12 academic year.
He replaces Meaghan Murphy, who will attend Le Moyne College in Syracuse, N.Y., to work toward a graduate degree in Physician Assistant Studies. Murphy had been employed by the University of Dallas since September 2005.
Blasczienski, a native of Fulton, N.Y., comes to the University of Dallas after previously serving as Head Athletic Trainer for two years (2009-11) at St. Bonaventure University.
While at St. Bonaventure, Blasczienski’s duties in this role included covering Baseball, Men’s Basketball and Men’s Soccer. In his tenure with the Bonnies, he also held the position of Assistant Athletic Trainer (2005-09), wherein among Baseball and Men’s Soccer, he covered Swimming & Diving. Of note, he was the host trainer for the Atlantic 10 Swimming & Diving Championships.
Blasczienski spent one year working in Williamsville, N.Y., as an ATC in the office of Dr. Frank J. Schlehr (M.D., P.C.), aiding in the evaluation and treatment of orthopedic injuries. During this period, Blasczienski was also the Head Athletics Trainer for Tonawanda, Medina, and Roy-Hart High Schools.
A May 2004 graduate of the State University of New York at Buffalo, Blasczienski obtained both a Bachelor’s and Master’s in Exercise Science with emphasis in Athletic Training. While at Buffalo, as a student athletic trainer, he covered Football, Track & Field, Women’s Basketball, and Men’s Soccer.
He also interned at Niagara University, where he assisted the 2004 CHA Champion Purple Eagle men’s hockey team, and was the primary athletic trainer for the women’s lacrosse team.
Blasczienski, who holds CPR/AED (Professional Rescuer) and NATABOC certifications, is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association and the Collegiate Athletic Trainers Society.
He resides with wife, Natalie and daughter, Siena.
