University of Dallas officially a member of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference
IRVING, Texas - As of Friday, July 1, 2011, the University of Dallas is officially a member institution of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC), after often competing at the Division III independent level since the 2001-02 academic year.
The SCAC dates back to 1962, and Dallas will compete during the 2011-12 academic year in 14 of the conference's 21 NCAA sanctioned varsity sports, including baseball, men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s cross country, men’s golf, men’s and women’s lacrosse, men’s and women’s soccer, softball, men’s and women’s outdoor track & field and volleyball.
In joining the SCAC, Dallas' student-athletes will be afforded the opportunity to showcase their talents during conference play in such states as Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, Tennessee and Texas.
