Four Crusaders stake claim on AD3I Men's Soccer All-Independent Teams

Four members of head coach David Hoffmann's 2010 University of Dallas men's soccer team have been honored by the Association of Division III Independents (AD3I) for their on-the-field efforts during the 2010-11 season.

Those Crusaders receiving recognition include sophomore defender Joey Killion (Katy, Texas/Katy H.S.), senior forward Ryan Meske (Niwot, Colo./Niwot H.S.), freshman midfielder Adam Kaftan (Omaha, Neb./Creighton Prep), and junior defender Preston Waltrip (Derby, Kan./Derby H.S.).

Killion was named AD3I Co-Defensive Player of the Year. In 17 games played and started, he had two goals for four points, off of three shots. The defensive stalwart was key in Dallas' 1.64 season goals-against average. Killion also received AD3I First Team honors, along with fellow teammates Meske and Kaftan.

Meske scored ten goals in his senior campaign, in addition to dishing out three assists, for a total of 23 points. For his efforts, he was selected as an AD3I First Team Forward. With 22 shots on goal, Meske doubled the next closest Crusaders in this category -- Amir Nail and Michael Chapman each had 11.

Chosen as an AD3I First Team Midfielder, Kaftan tallied one goal and two assists for a total of four points on the season. In 17 games played, he recorded 16 starts. Kaftan was solid as a defensive-minded midfielder throughout the season.

Waltrip was selected to the AD3I Second Team as a midfielder. The Derby, Kan. native started every one of the 16 matches he played. He had one goal and four assists, for a six point output.
