LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) announced the championship venues for the 2017-18 athletics season. The University of Dallas has been selected to host the 2017 men's soccer tournament. The three-day event will take place November 3-5 at Crusader Field on the campus of UD in Irving, Texas. The top six teams in the SCAC standings will qualify.

The Crusaders have hosted five SCAC Championships since joining the league in 2012. Dallas hosted the Cross Country Championships during its inaugural year in the conference. In the spring of 2013, the Crusaders hosted the Softball Championship. In 2014-15, both Men's and Women's Basketball Championships were at the Maher Center in a memorable wintry weather weekend. The most recent SCAC Tournament that was hosted by the Crusaders was on the same field as this upcoming fall, when the 2015 Women's Soccer Tournament was held.

Dallas has garnered one SCAC Semi-Final appearance as the 2014-15 men's basketball team prevailed in the opening round for its first SCAC Tournament victory since joining. That squad tied a program-high 18 wins. The most recent UD team to play in the postseason at home was the women's soccer team two seasons ago. The fifth-seeded Crusaders battled fourth-seeded Southwestern University to a scoreless draw. The Pirates advanced on penalty kicks.

There will also be other new championship venues off-site of school campuses this year, with two that could affect UD's teams. The site of the SCAC Baseball Tournament will be nearby in Cleburne, Texas. The conference found a new partner as the Cleburne Railroaders, an Independent professional baseball team that plays in the American Association, will open its doors to the SCAC in 2018. The Depot at Cleburne Station opened this past May and has already been selected by fans as their favorite independent-baseball ballpark in the annual "Ballpark Digest Best of the Ballparks vote, winning 2017 honors.

The top four teams in the SCAC Baseball Standings will earn a chance to play under the lights in the professional ballpark. The Crusaders are seeking their first appearance in the tournament since 2013 when the current format was implemented.

The men's golf team will get to play on a new course next spring in April at the Panther Trail Course at the Woodlands, Texas. In a slight twist from tradition where either member institutions or the conference office in in charge of hosting duties, the City of Shenandoah (Texas) will host the 2018 SCAC Men's and Women's Golf Championships at Panther Trail. No stranger to hosting NCAA events, the city has co-hosted three Division III Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving national champinoships (along with the SCAC) and is slated to host the 2018 and 2019 Division III Football Championship as well as the 2022 Division III Women's Golf Championship.
