Women's Cross Country Finishes 5th At Texas DIII Championships
The University of Dallas women's cross country team was in action Saturday, finishing 5 of 11 overall at the Texas DIII Championships hosted by Texas Lutheran University in Seguin, TX.
Individually, three Crusaders finished in the top-20. UD sophomore Catherine Sercer's (Fort Scott, KS/Fort Scott H.S.) 25:36 in this 6K race merited 11th place overall, and was 2:12 outside Trinity University's Rosemary Steup's winning time. UD freshman Mary Jones (Oneida, WI/Notre Dame Academy) finished 16th, posting a time of 26:05, while freshman Laura Redlinger (San Diego, CA/Patrick Henry H.S.) crossed the finish line at 26:14, earning 19th place.
The field of UD participants was rounded out by:
- Brittany Martinez (Eagle, ID/Bishop Kelly H.S.) 27:13, 35th
- Heather Capozzella (Enid, OK/Enid H.S.) 27:53, 40th
- Renee Yackley (Houston, TX/St. Agnes Academy) 27:58, 42nd
- Patsy Craig (Hillsdale, MI/Hillsdale Academy) 29:43, 58th
- Elena Newvine (West Linn, OR/Ecce Veritas) 31:08, 72nd
As a team, the women finished with 121 points, leaving them looking up at Trinity University, which won the event with 27 points.
On Saturday, October 2, UD will compete in Memphis, TN, at the Rhodes College Invitational.
