Crusaders Blow by Centenary on Saturday

IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas men's lacrosse team powered by Centenary College in a 19-1 victory on Saturday afternoon. Jake Frederick (Coppell, Texas) tallied a career-high seven points thanks to matching a personal game-best four assists that was part of a potent offense on the day. Tucker Jameson (Mechanicsville, Md.) and Tyler Smith (Snoqualmie, Wash.) each led the goal-scoring with four apiece.

Dallas (2-2) started the first quarter with a 3-0 advantage, but seemed to hit everything by the back of the cage with the highest shot total (18) in a frame taken. Frederick assisted the first pair of UD goals with Smith and Austin Gibbons (St. Charles, Ill.) punching scoring results. Jameson put in the final goal with about 30 seconds left to finish the quarter.

The home team pulled away with a trio of goals coming in less than five minutes that sparked a seven-goal quarter and made it 10-0 at intermission for Dallas. At that point Frederick had three helpers, but he matched that production with a trio of goals thanks to scoring the first two of the third quarter. He assisted Smith in the fourth to complete his strong game.

Centenary was limited to 16 shots and six shots on goal. Riley Albritton scored the lone netter for the Gents to make it 18-1 late in the fourth. Brooks Smitha won 12 faceoffs and picked up nine ground balls to go with 11 shots. Zach Norton was handed the loss with 14 saves in 60 minutes.

Thomas Irving (Manassas, Va.), Ben Simansky (Alton, Ill.), Joe Piescik (Vienna, Va.), and Will McEvoy (Dallas, Texas) made their season debuts. Irving won five faceoffs and had the team's final goal. Bogar Trout III (Tecumseh, Mich.) was 100 percent in the faceoff circle with three wins. He posted five ground balls and four caused turnovers. Cole Griffin (Lucas, Texas) made five saves in a complete match.

Smith became the all-time leader in goals with 59 to surpass Tony Lemos who had 58.

Dallas won its fourth straight head-to-head meeting against Centenary and moved to 3-0 at home in all-time series.
