The University of Dallas volleyball team is back on the road this Friday (9/7) and Saturday (9/8) at the Millsaps/Belhaven Tournament in Jackson, Mississippi. There will be two matches each day that features: Loyola University (La.) (5 p.m.), Dillard University (7 p.m.), Belhaven University (11 a.m.), and LaGrange College (1 p.m.).
The Crusaders are coming off a 1-2 start to the season at the Austin College Classic last weekend while earning their first victory of the season against Concordia University.
Dayjah Whyte (Round Rock, Texas) leads the Crusaders in kills (23) followed closely by Abigail Porras (El Paso, Texas) with 20. UD had a trio of players with double digit kills in the win on Saturday. Whyte added five of the team's blocks in the win against Concordia. The team is averaging 1.1 blocks-per-set. Stephanie Janysek (Sinton, Texas) has the team lead with 46 assists early in the 2018 season. Sarah Hughes (Fair Oaks, Calif.) is the team leader in digs (43). Dallas continues to use three setters that will all have valuable playing time. Janysek, Elizabeth Smith (Broken Arrow, Okla.) and Samantha Garza (Richmond, Texas) will be key to watch in that setter role this weekend. Several freshmen will continue to find playing time on the court again, as all 11 made their debuts in the season-opening tournament.
